AP's Note: These two books are focused on manufacturing and project management, but they were instrumental in helping me truly understand interdependencies in everything around us and the importance of looking downstream. Now, as I start validating an idea and begin planning, I focus on interdependencies not only in my tool stack but also in the business processes. Mapping out a process flow early and understanding how each system or process feeds into or depends on another will make your planning more thorough, and reduce potential gaps and problems later.   

The E-Myth Revisited by Michael E. Gerber

• Why We Recommend It: This book is a must-read for anyone starting a business. It talks about the importance of systems and how to work on your business, not just in it.
• Personal Take: This book taught me the importance of scalability and building processes with growth in mind.
